Kamoi (鴨居)
Our kamoi (lintel) design facilitates seamless integration with sliding doors, discreetly routing lighting cables atop the beams, and accommodating various light options and curtain rails. By eliminating the need for a false ceiling, not only does it streamline carpentry efforts for cost-effectiveness, but it also expedites the installation process.
Kotenjo (小天井)
Integrate a kotenjo (small ceiling) design to redefine the utilization of living spaces. It adapts to the layout of beams and columns in the area, providing flexibility to incorporate lightings, MUJI’s stainless steel unit shelf (SUS) series and sliding doors, allowing for the demarcation of specific areas and offering customization within a modular system. Its easy installation reduces production costs and expedites the construction timeline.
Lighting (照明)
Stepping away from the conventional approach of brightening every corner to eliminate shadows, we introduce an indirect lighting design through carefully positioned track lights. Drawing inspiration from ancient Japan, where aesthetic sensibility focused on acknowledging and leveraging shadows, this not only introduces a touch of Japanese aesthetics but also elevates the overall ambiance of the space.
Visit the model room located inside MUJI Plaza Singapura to experience the displayed MUJI Renovation concepts. This model apartment replicates a typical Singapore 4-room HDB flat, spanning approximately 91 square meters, complete with a living room, two bedrooms, an open kitchen, and bathroom. Situated within the store, you can easily spot the iconic HDB-style brick wall from a distance.
